Dear Friends:
This week has been an emotional roller coaster of fear and anxiety watching the forecasts of Hurricane Irma. I lived through Hurricane Andrew back in 1992 when I was 9 years old. The memories are vivid and haunting. We never imagined that another storm like that would hit Miami again let alone one that would cover the entire state of Florida. My mind has been in overdrive all week, not to mention I've had to work each day this week. All of this stress has weighed heavily on my mind, not making it easy to work. We are doing what we can to prepare our little townhouse before leaving tomorrow night. We live close to the bay down here in South Miami. That puts us in an evacuation zone. We are taking ourselves, plus our dog and 3 cats to my mother in law's house which is more inland. We chose not to evacuate north since there is no where to run from this storm unless you drive out of Florida through several states. My worst fear is the flooding. I have no idea what to expect. We are preparing our 1st floor for potential water coming in just in case. I am praying that doesn't happen.
Please, when you have a moment, say a little prayer that mother nature lets up already. Between the hurricanes and fires, I think she has made her point loud and clear this year.
** Hugs from Miami**
Jen
